YIELDING to griping junior officers, Philippine National Police Director General Edgar Aglipay has sacked a top police official as head of the PNP's anti-kidnapping unit.
Aglipay asked Senior Supt. Rodolfo "Boogie" Mendoza to concentrate instead on the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of which he is also officer in charge.
PNP intelligence director Robert Delfin was designated supervisor of the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response (Pacer) team until Aglipay picks a permanent replacement for Mendoza.
"He's totally out of Pacer," said Aglipay of Mendoza at a press conference yesterday.
Mendoza's appointment as Pacer chief about a week before Christmas was met by the departure of at least 52 policemen from the PNP's prime anti-kidnapping group.
