Thai govt to bury some tsunami victims

The Foreign Ministry said Thursday the Thai government had announced that some foreign victims of Sunday's tsunami in and around Phuket island would be buried and not cremated as was originally reported.

Though the Thai government initially announced its intention to cremate the bodies, it changed its decision due to strong opposition, mainly from Islamic countries where it is not customary to cremate the bodies of the dead.
