Wellington, Dec 30 - Hutt Valley successfully defended their title at the national under-19 women's softball championships in Wanganui today courtesy of an unbeaten record in round robin play.

Bad weather saw play abandoned in the fourth inning of the final between Hutt Valley and Hawke's Bay.

When rain made the game unplayable Hawke's Bay were leading 7-0 but because the fixture was abandoned before the fifth inning it was not considered an official game.

The title was awarded to Hutt Valley because they were ranked first at the completion of round robin play and they had beaten Hawke's Bay on the only …
