BRADENTON -- St. Petersburg High School claimed the 2nd annual Coach Eddie Shannon Classic championship with a 55-46 victory over Sarasota High on Wednesday night at the Manatee High gymnasium.

The Green Devils (8-3) outscored the Sailors 9-2 over the first 5 minutes and 11 seconds of the third quarter. Poor shot selection and offensive fouls by Sarasota fueled the St. Petersburg run.

Brian Blakely led three Green Devils in double figures with 14 points. Marquis Ford and Christian Boyle had 13 and 10, respectively.

Derrell Berrien scored a game-high 17 points for the Sailors, who were 5 for 14 from the free-throw line.
