Rotorua, Dec 29 - A Taupo geography teacher holidaying in an area badly affected by Asia's deadly tsunami has the skills to survive a natural disaster, his principal says.
Geoffrey Prestidge, a teacher at Tauhara College, his wife Roz and their three children -- Lauren, 15, Erica, 13, and Briar, 9 -- are believed to be travelling toward Trivandrum, on India's southern coast.
India is one of eight countries in southeast Asia affected by what has been described as the world's worst natural disaster in modern times.
Mr Prestidge e-mailed his Rotorua travel agent, Scott Gagen, on Thursday, confirming his family was heading for Trivandrum.
