Having all but vanquished the videotape from the prerecorded-video market, the DVD now wants to be your TV recording medium as well. You should seriously entertain the offer.

Prices for DVD recorders have fallen from more than $500 a year ago to as little as $200 today. The recorders deliver better images than a VCR, along with direct access to the recordings on a disc. They serve as DVD players, too.
