Charlotte County's branch of America's volunteer lifesavers -- aka, the USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 98, Division 9 of Punta Gorda -- completed 380 boat inspections and 75 patrols on the waters of Charlotte Harbor in 2004.

USCG Commander of Fort Myers Beach, Peter Louzao, lauded Flotilla 98 Division 9 for its work at a dinner held at Victoria Estates.

"What Division 9 volunteers were able to accomplish here (Charlotte County) this year is amazing," Louzao said.

Outgoing Commander of Flotilla 98, Paul Marcuzzo, also lauded the USCG.
