Diane Milutinovich warned the AD at California State University Fresno that the athletics program was violating Title IX in its treatment of female athletes. It was cutting women's sports, leaving assistant coaching jobs vacant and not providing the women's teams with equal resources or publicity. And they traveled by commercial airline rather than on the charters the men's teams enjoyed.
Instead of heeding her warning, they eliminated her job in 2002, blaming it on budget constraints.
