For the fall of 2004 women made up more than half of the applicants to medical schools in the United States, 50.4%.

It's the second year in a row of an increase in the total number of applicants, and of the majority being women, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Nearly 36,000 people applied to med schools, up 2.7% over last year. Black applicants increased by 2.5% ...
