New Zealand rivals critical of closed sale process and foreign ownership.
NEW ZEALAND POST has sold half its express courier business to German freight giant DHL for an undisclosed sum after deciding not to hold an open tender.
Market rivals Mainfreight and Freightways criticised the sale, saying it should have been opened up to achieve the best price. They also questioned why foreign owners had been brought in when local firms or shareholders could have bought a stake in New Zealand's equal largest courier firm.
