PHOENIX, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America (MAWFA), the world's largest wish-granting organization, has named David A. Williams president and chief executive officer.
As CEO, Williams will lead the Foundation's national staff and work closely with its 74 chapters, including the chapter chief executives and board chairs, in executing the strategy and mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Williams comes to MAWFA from Habitat for Humanity International, where he most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer, concluding a 10-year career at the organization. Under his leadership, Habitat experienced significant growth in revenue and house building. Over the years Williams played a major role in increasing the number of country operations from 48 to 100, U.S. affiliates from 1,200 to 1,700 and also spearheaded a $200 million fund-raising campaign.
Among his many other noteworthy accomplishments, Williams implemented Habitat for Humanity University, an institution for developing Habitat staff and volunteers and the Habitat Global Village and Discovery Center, an interactive experience that educates and creates awareness of poverty housing in developing countries. Prior to joining Habitat, Williams served as executive director of The Houston Food Bank.
