This event will benefit WGCU Public Media. Special lectures and breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday. Speakers are Claudia Miller "The Importance of the Appraisal" and Bahram Shabahand who will discuss the difference between generic carpets and Persian carpets as an art form, and will include a hands-on session. THE 50th WASHINGTON ANTIQUES SHOW will be held on Thursday, January 6 through Sunday, January 9, 2005 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert Street, NW, Washington, DC 20008. The show will feature forty-five premiere North American antiques dealers in 18th and 19th centuries' furniture, paintings, rugs, porcelain, silver and other decorative arts. In keeping with this years' theme, "A Walk Through Time", fabulous walking sticks will be featured throughout. The loan exhibit presents "The Times of Your Life in America" with a series of vignettes depicting each stage of life. Other highlights will be talks by individual exhibitors in their booths designed to introduce the newcomer to the world of antiques and to intrigue the more seasoned collector with tips and tales on the acquisition of particular pieces.
