The 5th annual design/build competition, "Masonry: It Makes A Village," sponsored by the Arizona Masonry Guild, was held earlier this year in Phoenix. The timed event pitted teams of Arizona architects and mason contractors against each other to design and build the most creative and original "village" structures with the use of brick, block, natural and manufactured stone, glass block, and architectural precast. Eight teams competed in the event.

The winning projects were judged by industry experts and were chosen for creativity of design and use of materials, teamwork, craftsmanship, and overall quality.
