A CHANCE conversation between two strangers has given a new Wigan charity a welcome cash boost.
Bank adviser Vanessa Mercer had no idea who Sheila Fairhurst was when the latter called in at the Halifax as a customer.
But then it emerged during a chat that she was the mother of teenager Carly Fairhurst, whose death is currently at the centre of a murder probe and in whose name a trust to save Wigan Victim Support's counselling service has been established.
