O SAY CAN YOU SEE?: Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to react quickly to changes in modern life - even troubling ones - and find a positively chic solution. When a terror scare in London last month evoked a ban on liquid items and gels on airplanes, forcing some passengers to tote carry-on items in clear plastic bags, the designer had a better idea. He dreamed up the "Naked Bag" for Chanel, transparent but with a subtle quilting pattern, dark piping and signature chain handles. Although an important vacation month in France, Lagerfeld said he "had the Chanel factories opened to have them made in a second..." Available in a variety of sizes and styles, the clearly modern accessories are slated to arrive in Chanel boutiques soon.
IMITATION JEWELRY: Imitation of Christ and Scarlett Johansson have collaborated to launch a jewelry line, according to Imitation of Christ designer Tara Subkoff. Runway models were expected to wear the jewelry in Sunday night's Imitation of Christ show, as was Johansson, who has long supported the label. This makes the second fashion partnership Johansson has entered this year, following the "Scarlett [Hearts] Rbk" line she is doing with Reebok. The jewelry will be retailed alongside the rest of the Imitation of Christ collection.
SISTER ACT: Nicky Hilton said she and her sister, Paris, will walk the catwalk together in the Heatherette show Tuesday night and they will buzz by Luca Luca Monday. Safe to say, Paris, who was arrested Thursday on suspicion of DUI, will not be driving. Nicky was at the Nicole Miller show Friday, and said she's asked Miller to design one of the suites for her new hotel, Nicky O, in Miami's South Beach. And for those who are wondering, the "O" is for Hilton's middle name, Olivia.
GIRLS GONE WYLDE: Paula Thomas, the British model-turned-designer behind the glam rock label Thomas Wylde, is launching a new brand for spring, Paula Thomas for TW. The collection, called "Death Valley," merges sunset hues with luxe materials such as barolo leather, ostrich, crocodile, silk, chiffon and cashmere. While the Thomas Wylde collection focused on a few studded leather pieces and skull print dresses, TW represents a complete lifestyle collection, including dresses, blouses and suiting as well as leather pants, jackets and full-length coats, T-shirts, boots, bags, sneakers and swimwear.
