MICHAEL Ballack proved a point last night - Germans always score penalties. The former Bayern Munich star stepped up to the spot last night and clinically smashed Chelsea to victory. But it was not as easy as the scoreline looked, and worryingly John Terry, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Didier Drogba were all booked which could have repercussions for the ties against Barcelona later in the group. The Blues had been rocking as they clung on to their slender one-goal firsthalf lead at Stamford Bridge. Ballack's Germany international team-mate Miroslav Klose was only inches away from getting Werder Bremen back on level terms in this crucial opening tie.
