Hong Kong shipmanagers, in common with colleagues around the world, are confronted by the same seemingly perennial issues.

They include crew shortages and quality, overwhelming volumes of rules and legislation, turnover of vessels and trying to make a buck for a hard day's work in a highly competitive sector.

A new but largely welcome problem has been how to restructure a shipmanagement firm because of a large intake of new vessels.
