HOUSEHOLDERS have ripped chips from their wheelie bins and posted them back to Lancaster City Council after nationwide publicity about the 'bugs'.

Following the stories about selected councils placing electronic bugs in wheelie bins, residents have been checking their bins for the chips.

Keith Willacy of Leycester Street in Morecambe decided to check his wheelie bin and to his surprise discovered he had been 'bugged.' "Not even the binmen knew anything about it when I asked them," he said."I looked at my neighbour's bin and they had the same tag.".
