Sep. 3--Ernesto delivered only half as expected. As it moved northward, the remnants of the tropical storm dumped about 3 inches of rain on Centre County overnight Friday and throughout Saturday, drenching Penn State football fans but sparing communities of major flooding. The storm was predicted to bring as much as 4 inches and cause creeks to swell in low-lying and other vulnerable areas. Centre County was under a National Weather Service flood watch, then advisory, for most of Saturday.
