LONDON (AFX) - BG Group PLC said it made a major gas discovery in the central North Sea.

BG believes it could recover anywhere between 100 mln and 275 mln barrels from the find, in which it owns a 30.5 pct stake.

ConocoPhillips Corp owns 36.5 pct of the block, while Italy's ENI SpA holds 33 pct.

The exploration well, which was drilled early this year, straddles blocks P011 and P0032 30/7a and is nine kilometres away from the gas-producing Judy field.
