TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Nikon Corp is expected to post a record operating profit of nearly 40 bln yen for the first half ending September, 41 pct more than a year before and 10 bln yen more than previously forecast, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported.
The newspaper, without disclosing its sources, said this was because of robust sales of single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras and a weaker yen.
First-half revenue is projected to rise 8 pct to about 370 bln yen, more than the previous estimate of 360 bln yen, mainly because of sales of high-end digital SLR cameras with interchangeable lenses in the North American market.
