SIR, Regarding the story 'ICTSI ruled out of Buenos Aires box project' (Lloyd's List, August 29), I would like to draw to your attention that the base contention of your story that we have been ruled out of the Buenos Aires tendering process for the Terminal 6 concession is entirely untrue.

It is true, and very surprising, that after launching an international tender for Terminal 6 the Port Authority has challenged our further participation in the tender process, but this is strictly on the grounds: 'ICTSI's offer is not convenient as it does not safeguard the competitive balance between the terminal operators in Buenos Aires.' It is not, as suggested in your story, on the basis of not fulfiling the requirements for pre-qualification.

Indeed, to say this is quite inaccurate and, most important, misleading to your readers who could interpret this statement as suggesting that ICTSI could not achieve certain qualification criteria (expertise, financial, etc).

Such a statement in effect could, without any just cause whatsoever, damage our reputation and we therefore feel it is most important that you put the record straight.
