GROWTH in the US cruise industry slowed last year on the back of fewer newbuildings and weather conditions, according to the latest economic impact study by the International Council of Cruise Lines, writes Sandra Speares.

Numbers of passenger embarkations in US ports increased by 6.3% to 8.6m compared with growth of 13.9% in 2004. This hit total industry spending growth, which fell to 10% totalling $16.18bn compared with an increase of 13.8% in 2004.
