BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AFX) - Luxury department store Saks Inc. said Thursday same-store sales, a key gauge of a retailer's performance, rose 3.3 percent in August, in line with Wall Street forecasts.

In the year ago period, the company saw its same-store sales -- or sales at stores open at least one year -- fall 0.3 percent.
