DAVAO CITY, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has granted travel tax exemption to travelers originating from Mindanao and Palawan who are bound to the East ASEAN Growth Area (EAGA) beginning next month to 2008.

In a statement, Mindanao Economic Development Council (MEDCo) said the President recently signed Memorandum Order NO. 223 reviving the tax holiday.

MEDCo said President Arroyo's effort is a strategic move ahead of the forthcoming four-country (Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei and Malaysia) discussions at the 3rd EAGA leaders summit in December.
