MANILA, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - The Philippine International Air Terminals Co. Inc. (PIATCO) on Thursday gave the government ample time to iron out issues related to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 takeover.
Moises Tolentino, counsel for PIATCO, said the company has decided to give in to the request of Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Alfonso Cusi that the government be allowed to address first certain issues.
"PIATCO has decided that in the spirit of goodwill and with due regard to the MIAA General Manager's request, we are giving the government a little more time, as requested, to address the issues," Tolentino said in a press statement.
Earlier, Cusi, in a letter to PIATCO President Vic Chen Yong, said the takeover of the NAIA-3 should be an "exercise with prudence."
The Singapore-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Arbitration Tribunal earlier ordered in a decision the government to give back to PIATCO the right to operate the NAIA-3.
