SEOUL, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - South Korean builders are cashing in on booming construction markets in the Middle East amid high-flying oil prices, an industry body said Friday.
The combined orders received by local construction firms between January and August came to US$11.8 billion, up 82.7 percent from a year earlier. The cumulative figure also surpassed the $10.9 billion worth of orders won in the entire year of 2005, the International Contractors Association of Korea said.
The majority of the orders, worth $7.1 billion, came from the Middle East, up 57.3 per cent from the previous year, the association said.
