MANILA, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - The Presidential Office assured the public Thursday that it would use the resources within its means for the immediate cleanup and containment of the oil spill that hit Guimaras island while ensuring the protection of the natural resources and safety of the people in the area.
"The extent of this disaster may not be as foreboding as reported, but it is something that cannot be glossed over and taken for granted," Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio R. Bunye said in a statement.
Bunye was reacting to reports of dire consequences of the oil spill caused by the sinking of the Motor Tanker Solar I and the alleged slow pace of the cleanup along the shores of the island province.
