SYDNEY, Sept 1 Asia Pulse - The underachieving New South Wales economy is acting as a brake on prosperity, Prime Minister John Howard has told a Liberal Party fundraiser in Sydney.
Mr Howard last night said only a change of state government could reverse the damaging legacy of NSW Labor governments.
"The general economic health of this country is due to the economic management of the federal government," Mr Howard said in a speech.
"It is nonetheless the case that bad state government decisions can act as a brake on the spread and the full enjoyment national economic prosperity in an individual states.
"And this is certainly the case here in NSW.
"This state should be doing better. This state deserves better."
Mr Howard said property taxes had driven investors interstate.
