USA Technologies said that its EnergyMiser energy management technology is being installed at Fort Hood Army Garrison, Fort Hood, Texas, the largest military base in America.
Fort Hood is installing VendingMisers on 600 vending machines located across the base, which houses a mix of military and civilian personnel.
USA Technologies estimates Fort Hood will immediately begin to save an additional $100,000 a year in energy costs. Earlier, Fort Hood had already installed approximately 100 VendingMisers, saving an estimated $15,000 a year.
"Apparently, Fort Hood was delighted with the energy savings from the first 100 VendingMiser devices, and after validating that the Misers were reducing energy consumption, it was decided to convert the remainder of the post," said John Reasoner, Federal Government Account Manager, Johnson Controls, the company installing the Misers.
