The 7th International Symposium on Display Holography was held at the Optic Technium in St Asaph, North Wales, July 10-14, moving this formerly triennial event from its spiritual home in Lake Forest, Illinois. The 7th Symposium followed the established pattern, but the formal programme began, exceptionally, with an appreciation of Emmett Leith and Yuri Denisyuk by Sean Johnston (author of Holographic Visions) with contributions from participants.
And everyone present enjoyed the opportunity to show and tell about their holograms. Jonathan Ross had mounted an excellent exhibition of holograms from his collection at the nearby Bodelwyddan Castle, an outpost of the (UK's) National Portrait Gallery, but it was the impromptu viewing of holograms during the Symposium that most captured the spirit of this gathering of the display holography community.
