Forget the carrots. Pass the fish.
Two studies published in the July issue of the Archives of Ophthalmology say eating seafood may help reduce the risk of macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness in old age.
The first study, conducted by the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School's Department of Biostatistics, looked at 681 elderly male twins, 222 with AMD and 459 with no sign of the disease.
