The differences between the academic and the corporate worlds are decreasing every day. The skills and tools that women need to get ahead in both worlds are remarkably similar. So why the division between the two spheres? Why don't we work harder to form relationships with women in the private sector? And most importantly, what can we learn from them?

Susan Bulkeley Butler discussed how academic women can work with and learn from corporate women, speaking at the state coordinators' conference of the American Council on Education Office of Women in Higher Education, held in Los Angeles in February.
