Three childcare programs on Chicago's South Side will receive a share of almost $425,000 in grants from the University of Chicago for enhancements and the addition of 70 childcare spots starting this fall.
The idea came from a 2003 university employee survey that found limited childcare openings for toddlers and infants. Instead of creating an onsite program that would compete with area providers, administrators decided to work with existing childcare sites. (Newswatch, May 2006)
