On Saturday, May 20, 15-year-old Javaris Granger was asleep at home in Hollywood, Florida, one of 12 relatives in the house, one boy with 11 females. At 3:30 a.m., he awoke to his mother's screaming.
His mother, Maxine Chandler, was screaming in terror because she had just answered the door, expecting to find her husband back from visiting a coworker in the hospital, but finding instead an aggressive stranger. As she opened the door, the man tried to force his way into the house. She managed to close the door and lock it before the intruder, later identified as Keil Jumper, 22, could wedge the door open and get inside. But Jumper wasn't about to give up. He picked up a bicycle and began using it to batter the door and a window. Chandler dialed her husband's number on the phone. She then gave the phone to her son, and her husband told the boy to get a gun and "Do what you have to do," reported the Sun-Sentinel.
Responding to his father's instruction, Javaris got his father's two pistols, loaded them, and then, holding one in each hand, took cover and waited for Jumper to break in. Moments ...
