On September 14, schools and communities across the nation will sing "The Star Spangled Banner" to celebrate the anniversary of our national anthem. Last year, more than 1,700 schools and organizations participated in a September 14 celebration. TV stations sent cameras and reporters to schools for live coverage of the kids singing, and more than 100 newspapers covered these school music programs. Teachers are urged to plan an event to showcase the important role music teachers play in passing our American heritage from one generation to the next. Contact your local teachers, parents, schools, and community leaders to join in singing this song together this year.
