Aug. 18--The James S. Wilson Middle School renovation might need more money.
Project architect Chris Coughlin estimates that the total bill for the project could be as much as $23.5 million, an $800,000 increase over the current $22.7 million plan.
Coughlin based his estimate on the costs of other projects in the area. He said large-scale building projects, such as the convention center and Presque Isle Downs, are driving up the price of construction materials locally.
There have not been this many large-scale construction projects in the region for at least 14 years, Coughlin said.
