Nov. 24--WASHINGTON -- Congress has agreed to spend nearly $60 million to begin extending the Metro Gold Line light-rail line to East Los Angeles.
The money comes as part of a whopping federal spending bill that funds about $80 million in Los Angeles and Ventura county highway and transportation projects.
Some of the bigger-ticket items include $1 million secured by Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Sherman Oaks, to help build another off-ramp lane at the 101/405 interchange; $5 million...
