Oct. 25--QUESTION: How do you characterize the role of United Way of Salt Lake as the organization celebrates its 100th anniversary?

DEBORAH BAYLE NIELSON: The role of United Way of Salt Lake is to improve lives in Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele counties by mobilizing the caring power of our communities. We accomplish this by identifying the most critical human service challenges facing people, by raising, leveraging and investing resources where the greatest impact can be made and by monitoring and guiding programs to ensure results.
