Jul. 17--Las Vegas residents will soon be able to fly directly to a cosmopolitan British city known for its fine entertainment, vibrant nightlife, world-class museums and die-hard soccer fans.
And believe it or not, the city in question isn't London.
Derby, England-based bmi (formerly known as British Midland International) on Friday said it will this fall begin operating thrice-weekly nonstop service between Las Vegas and England's Manchester International Airport.
Flights are scheduled to begin Oct. 31 and would leave here each Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 3:15 p.m. and arrive in Manchester a day later at 9:20 a.m. Using different aircraft, returning flights would leave England at 9:05 a.m. each Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and arrive at Las Vegas' McCarran International at 12:25 p.m. the same day.
