Jul. 2--DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke University Medical Center for the fifth straight year has maintained its rank as sixth-best U.S. hospital, according to the July 12 "Nation's Best Hospitals" issue of U.S. News & World Report, due on newsstands Monday.
The huge Durham medical complex was able to make the announcement Thursday on the first day of work for its new chancellor for health affairs, 57-year-old Victor Dzau, a Harvard University physician, researcher and administrator.
Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston beat Duke in the rankings, as usual, giving Dzau something to aim for as Duke's top doctor.
