Uniform Rental Firm Cintas May Lose Tax, Energy Breaks in Islip, N.Y.

Apr. 29--In an unusual move, state officials yesterday said Cintas Corp., the country's largest uniform rental company, may be stripped of the tax and energy breaks it receives in a state business zone in Islip following "a number" of labor, wage, and other complaints.
The state Labor Department plans to recommend to the Economic Development Corp., which administers the 72 so-called Empire Zones in the state, including the one in Islip, that Cintas be "decertified" from the program as a result of the complaints, said Rob Lillpopp, a Labor spokesman.
