Duke lacrosse team acting badly
When a black mother of two reported being sexually assaulted at a party by members of the elite lacrosse team at Duke University in Durham NC, there was no initial reaction. The good old boys at the Durham police club thought it would blow over, and didn't even bother to contact President Richard Brodhead.
First he heard about it was a week or so later, and then only by reading the campus newspaper, of all places. After that, Brodhead went into action, charging the campus to investigate and make immediate changes.
Soon after the lacrosse coach was gone and the rest of the team's season was cancelled.
