Two years ago Jessica Lee Faulkner was a student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She and another student were drugged, raped and strangled in a dorm room.
Her father recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the school and the killer's father, James E. Dixon III, who is an assistant in the chancellor's office. The senior Dixon had applied to UNCW in his son's name, failing to mention his son's criminal and academic history, and dishonorable discharge from the Navy.
Curtis Dixon turned himself in the same day that Faulkner died, after calling her father to confess, and committed suicide seven months later while awaiting trial.
