Joining its peers, Dartmouth College NH announced a paid leave for graduate students after the birth or adoption of a child. Primary care givers can take up to 12 weeks off and still receive their stipends and health benefits, plus an extra year to finish their work.
"Many studies have shown that prospective parents, most often women, find lack of support following birth or adoption to be a strong deterrent to pursuing graduate work," according to a press release. "The child-accommodation policy being adopted by Dartmouth will be one of the most generous."
