When I was 15 years old, I discovered body language. My first lesson came from Kim, a 16-year-old with hair to her waist and a remarkable hip-swiveling walk, who brought a book to school and showed it to a group of us in the library. It was harder than it sounds, but Kim was a quick study: She already had the long hair, the giggle, and the strut of an accomplished flirt. When she added the hair flick, she was unstoppable.
