Aug. 5--Yuba County on Friday confirmed its first human case of West Nile virus this year as the state released $3 million in funds to battle the potentially fatal disease, including $270,000 to Mid-Valley agencies.
County officials could not re-lease the patient's identity.
Earlier this week, Colusa County reported its first human case of the mosquito-borne virus this year.
The West Nile virus, which infects birds, has been found in 36 of the state's 58 counties this year. Twenty human cases of the virus have been reported.
Last month, a Sutter County woman tested positive for West Nile after a blood test.…
