The rate of interest paid on France's national savings account, the Livret A, will be raised today from 2.25 to 2.75 per cent. The rate is set twice-yearly by the French finance ministry on the basis of key interest rates and the rate of inflation (excluding tobacco products) over the previous 12 months. The new rate is the highest to be paid on the account for three years.
