Seabird adds vessel
SEABIRD Exploration has acquired platform supply vessel Highland Patriot and will upgrade it for 2D seismic surveys under a $26m programme. The vessel will work for Petroleum Geo- Services from 2007 under a $9m charter.
Rival Norwegian firm Scan Geophysical is also set to grow its fleet after acquiring 2002-built stern trawler Stigandi. The ship will be converted into a seismic vessel under a $28m upgrade.
STATOIL and Exxon- Mobil have failed to find hydrocarbons on two key exploration wells off Norway. Statoil came up dry on the Edvarda prospect in the Norwegian Sea with the Eirik Raude semi-submersible, which is en route to eastern Canada.
ExxonMobil also shot a dry hole on the North Sea Kogge structure in Norway's deepest well with the Maersk Giant jack-up rig, which is set to drill development wells for ConocoPhillips on the Ekofisk field.
NEW contracts in Australia and New Zealand have boosted Clough Engineering's orderbook by A$265m (US$202m). The company will build a platform for the Maari development, install platform topsides for Woodside's Angel project and undertake subsea work for Anzon to develop the Basker and Manta oil fields.
