THE recent surge in the Pacific panamax market did not hold up last week with generally weaker sentiment, however there is the possibility things could pick-up again this week, writes Marcus Hand in Singapore .

While the Atlantic remained reasonably strong the Pacific Basin has, to some extent, tailed off.

JE Hyde noted on Friday that for panamaxes in Asia the market 'continued to drag its heels'. 'The Pacific remains on the easy side with a number of trades failing on subjects, which is not helping the atmosphere,' the broker said.
